1. Broiler feeding should pay special attention to the dryness and cleanliness of the bedding. It is best to use stalks for bedding during the brooding period, which is dryer and more conducive to raising the temperature; the temperature in the medium and large chicken stages should be thicker bedding to increase the temperature below 18 ℃.

2.Reduce the stress reaction. Excessive sound, change of flock, vaccination, sudden change of weather, broken beak, etc. is a bad stimulus for chickens, which often can cause morbidity. Avoid unnecessary scratching and disturbance of chickens during feeding as much as possible. Anti-stress drugs can be administered before flock transfer, vaccination and beak breaking for prevention; deal with cold stress brought about by falling temperatures.

3.The temperature is one of the main factors in the brooding stage, the appropriate temperature can play the maximum benefit of feed. The temperature is too low to cause respiratory disease and pile up death in chickens.

Judgment methods are:

  • Hang the thermometer at the same height as the chicken to measure the temperature. The first week of brooding in autumn and winter is generally controlled at 35℃~36℃, and then lowered by 2℃~3℃ per week.
  • According to the reaction of chickens, which is one of the most important issues that farmers should pay attention to, the temperature is too low when the chickens scream gather piles, the temperature is too high when the chickens are scattered and have gasping, the temperature is suitable for the distribution of chickens evenly. Can also take the thermometer and sensory combination to determine whether the temperature is suitable.

4.Too much density will cause unbalanced growth of chickens, the increase of harmful gases in the air, especially in autumn, high humidity, chickens are prone to E. coli, coccidia, staphylococcus, etc., and can make the disease epidemic accelerate. Therefore, broilers should generally be controlled at about 10 per square meter.

5.Fresh air in the chicken coop can avoid respiratory diseases. Harmful gases or dust in the air can affect the health of chickens and even cause death. Anaerobic bacteria in the chicken coop decompose manure and nitrogenous organic matter to produce ammonia. When the concentration of ammonia in the chicken coop is 15×10-6, people feel uncomfortable, plus in winter and spring, when coal stoves are used for insulation, a large amount of harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide are produced, so ventilation should be provided without lowering the normal room temperature to reduce the content of harmful gases and dust in the chicken coop.
